 Welcome, welcome!

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Illinois and Texas. I believe that your thoughts and feelings are directly linked to how you perceive life experiences. The lens through which you view life will shape how you see your daily experiences. Sometimes, you fall into the trap of creating negatives when you do not have evidence to support them. This can result in feelings of inadequacy and can lead to behaviors that make you feel stuck. When we continue to view our world through a clouded, negative lens, the path of how we can create a life closer to what we truly want is no longer visible.

I specialize in helping young adults and adults through the ages confront their fears, worries, sadness, confusion, and challenges head on. I want to help you see your life more clearly. What you are experiencing now is not permanent. We will work together to make sure that you not only see your strengths more clearly, but that you find innovative ways to put them to good use. Things can and will get better. You have the key to unlock a new, healthier, more fruitful way of living. We will find that way together.

 My Approach

I believe that therapy is most beneficial when we prepare ourselves for going further than we have gone on our own. Sometimes this means experiencing discomfort and challenges that we are too scared to face alone. This is where I come in. We will collaborate and develop a partnership. This is essential for achieving your goals in therapy. I work to build a kind, dedicated, and reassuring atmosphere to guide our collaboration. In our journey you will experience the compassion, acceptance, and genuineness I offer my clients. My empathic approach will help comfort and support you as you approach life’s hurdles, while my creativity will offer unique solutions to old troubles.

I provide counseling services in English and Arabic.

Perinatal Mental Health

You start your day exhausted and fatigued. The saying “sleep when baby sleeps” is not comforting to you. Even when the baby sleeps, you cannot rest. Your thoughts are racing and your mind wanders. Oftentimes you feel sad and empty and you wonder how come, even after having the child you always wanted, you don’t feel happy? YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Becoming a Mom is a joyful, transformative event, but it can often leave you in a constant state of exhaustion. I want to help you identify your unique challenges and raise your awareness around useful ways of overcoming those challenges. You will learn how to manage your symptoms so they no longer interfere with what you want. Let’s get started in making you feel more like your old self.

Life Changes & Transitions

Predictability can be comforting. Knowing what to expect can sometimes make things easier. That is why when change happens, good or bad, there are obstacles that arise. Regardless of whether it is the end of a relationship or the start of a new career, you may feel overwhelmed by uncertainty, stress, or a sense of fear, stopping you in your tracks. Being stuck can increase anxiety, sadness, anger, or irritability, impacting your ability to get through the day. Working together, we can build a better way through this transition by cultivating a new, meaningful understanding of what is unfolding. We will create new practices that meet the demands of the challenges that lay ahead.

Cultural & Racial Identity

Do people ever make assumptions about who you are simply by looking at you? Do you ever feel like you don't belong, neither with your core group nor with the dominant group in society? Feeling out of place can manifest in different ways. Some people experience anxiety, unsure of how to act or behave. Some experience depression, an overwhelming sense of loneliness and isolation. Others may feel unsure as to whether they are “good enough” or “worthy enough” simply by being themselves. Your identity is the essence of who you are. We all have various parts of ourselves that combine together in a distinct way to create our identity. Being a minority is an important part of your identity, involving a variety of unique experiences and struggles. Having your unique perspective understood by another person is extremely important and essential to working through the challenges you face. Through a culturally sensitive lens, I will cater our sessions to your individual needs and guide our process as you grow towards self-acceptance.
